Stanford Rivers Church
Welcome to:
St. Margaret's Church, serving the communities of Toot Hill, Stanford Rivers and Little End
The church is a beautiful, peaceful building well worth a visit. It is open daily; visitors are particularly welcome on Sunday afternoons in summer when refreshments are served (teas are also available by arrangement at other times - see contact page). The church is a popular venue for special services such as baptisms, weddings and funerals. There is a thriving social programme. You are invited to join the Friends of St. Margaret's to receive details of these, and to support the church even if you do not wish to worship there.
The church is one of the oldest in Essex, dating from the twelfth century. It has had very little alteration, with no Victorian additions, no Lady Chapel or side chapels.
The church is only a short distance from the ancient wooden Saxon church of Greensted - if you are visiting or in the area, why not take in a visit to Stanford Rivers as well?
